As they say, the only constant in the cosmos is change. One never knows what happens next. That’s the fun of life (and the Radical Spirituality path!).
The best we can do is say, “Yes!” to whatever shows up. That’s what I’m doing (and hope you will, too).
In mid-June, I said “Yes!” to a new job as Chaplain at my local Hospice. I’ve been doing End-of-Life work for several years, and this job enables me to further support my community through some of the most challenging experiences anyone can face. It’s not easy work, but it’s deeply fulfilling and increasingly necessary.
It’s also time-consuming.
So, for the next few months while I get the ropes down, I will need to take a (short) break from writing 8-10 Substack pieces a week. I absolutely adore writing and sharing longer essays with you, but there are only so many hours in the day (and night), and I need to sleep for some of them.
As they say, all things change, even the good stuff….
So, beginning July, the What Matters on Wednesday series will change formats. Instead of a weekly Wednesday screed on whatever I feel like writing, I will offer a bi-weekly-ish compilation of things to ponder: a longer newsletter with quotes, teachings, practices, or shorter stories around a theme to deepen your Radical Spirituality journey. My hope is that these missives will be something you can return to throughout the month for inspiration, rather than just a single read.
I will continue The ABCs on Sundays until we get through the alphabet (mid-August, at this point), and occasionally, if it’s really impossible not to write about it, offer a longer essay (probably more often than I think…it’s hard for me NOT to write. I already have about five essays in my head!). They’ll be like little treats…for me and, I hope, for you. Then we will see how things develop. But rest assured, you will still get plenty of words from me (maybe more than you want).
AND…
Just to tantalize you further, in early September, I will be releasing my book, “Ten Words: A Radical Spiritual Guide for Becoming Better People in a Better World,” and will offer a special opportunity for Pay-It-Forward subscribers to join me in a monthly gathering as we explore The Ten Words together. (If you’re not a subscriber yet, you might consider it in August!). Stay tuned for more details!
I am and remain grateful for your support and look forward to sharing these new offerings with you.
But in the meantime, its summer! Get outside, enjoy the sunshine, be awed and wowed by fireflies, sunsets, fish, fresh food, friends, and fun. Don’t sit at your computer all day. In my (very) limited free time, you will find me at the local river swimming hole or the lake, remembering that being alive is the greatest blessing there is.
Radically,
Lauryn
